Great piece. Thanks for sharing. A question: how do you feel, as an astrologer about her method of finding purpose?

p.s. see my next Substack piece ("Arnold, Madonna, and Tom...") - it's indirectly related to your question.

hi, Jerry. Good question - and I wish I had a simple answer. Her (non-astrological) approach is pretty good. But as an astrologer I think there are a variety of possible ways to zero in on someone's "purpose." For example, in some cases it's fairly simple - e.g., if someone is a Gemini Sun, Gemini Ascendant and Virgo Moon, that's a triple Mercury emphasis, so I can fairly confidently say their purpose lies in teaching / writing/ research/ sales, etc. But in another case the person might have a t-square to Mars on the MC, in which case I might get the sense they could be a martial arts instructor, military historian, aerobics instructor, etc. (depending on all the other factors in the chart). Or, I might whittle down the person's options by asking them, "if you don't really know what you want in life, then what is it you DON'T want in your life?" - and through process of elimination zero in that way. On the other hand, my friend Laurence Hillman feels the North Node is a key indicator of "calling", which is similar to "purpose," so he'd probably focus on that more. Like I said, there are many ways to go about this. If you have any suggestions of your own, feel free to offer. (However if I'm not really understanding your question properly, let me know.)

I had a sense that retrospectively you might have an alternate or complimentary view of “purpose.”

Thanks for your reply.

Thank you for sharing this. Something I'm so interested in! This plays along with Neville Goodard, Abraham Hicks etc. The rewiring of the mind is so very challenging nowadays. If only we were enlightened with this as early as elementary school. To be more aware of our nervous system, subconscious and how the outer world shapes us and how our inner world shapes us. Trying to undo old programming as an adult, whew.... not for the faint of heart!
